Below are some horses who have successfully completed our 4-R Method and have 'Risen Up' through Rise Up Equestrians
Duncan was sold at the New Holland auction to a kill buyer. The kill buyer had a difficult time loading Duncan into the trailer, so he sold him to another buyer at the auction, who was able to take him home. The buyer then sold him to us. When Duncan came to us, he was under weight and scared of everything. His past trauma was so severe that he would flip over and fall just trying to put a halter on him. It took about a year to rehabilitate him, but we eventually gained his trust and helped him move toward reaching his full potential
Duncan is now a successful sport horse (Jumper/Hunter/Dressage) competing in shows with his 8-year-old rider, Quinn. According to the rider's mother:
"Team Duncan competed in the Intro Rider division, and even though Quinn was undoubtedly the smallest, and likely the youngest, rider we saw competing, she received so many compliments from complete strangers. Lisa Stauffer, I will forever be grateful to you for trusting us with Duncan! He is Quinn's whole heart!"

Pixie is a retired racehorse we received from PTHA's Turning For Home, Inc., which is a nonprofit organization at the Parx Race Track. When she came to our farm, we immediately treated her body sores, rain rot and scratches. We continued to physically rehabilitate her for 6 months, and then we restarted her under the saddle. We worked with her, at her pace, slowly gaining her trust, for another year.
Once she was rehabilitated, we evaluated her skills and abilities, and determined what discipline would best suited for her, which we found was Hunter/Jumper. She exceled and successfully completed our horse training program.
Pixie is now in a wonderful home, continuing her career, and her new family adores her. We hope to continue to have partnerships with programs like PTHA's Turning For Home, Inc., to give other retired racehorses an opportunity to have a long, loving, healthy life, and to make someone very happy.
Manny came to us from a local barn, where he spent a lot of time in a stall. He had very poor overall body condition, and had a severe hock injury from kicking the stall walls. Once we unloaded him from the trailer, he was so weak that he collapsed to the ground and laid there for several weeks. We did not know if he was going to survive. We sat by his side and encouraged him to fight. He finely started eating and gave us a glimmer of hope. Finally he stood up and decided he wanted to live.
Manny has made a full recovery and is thriving on our farm. We are still tending to his hock injury, but he is making strides. We would love to add him to our team next year, if all goes well. If not, we will find his person, and he will have a loving, safe, forever home.
Dolly, a retired racehorse, was no longer achieving victories or suitable for racing. Therefore, her owners chose to send her to a nonprofit to secure a promising future for her, rather than risking her ending up at a kill pen When she arrived, she was underweight with ulcers, skin disease (rain rot), sore feet, was very sensitive, reactive and scared. We created a customized treatment plan which included a tailored diet, hoof trim schedule, and emotional support to gently gain her trust.
Oakley was from an auction dealer, who said he was a pasture pet from Lancaster and not handled much by humans. We brought him in, gave him the nutrition, attention, and training he needed and deserved.
Oakley is now in a wonderful home, making a young family very happy. He is thriving in his new environment.
